I serve as Partner at Urban Housing Partners and Principal of SPJ Ventures, LLC, where I focus on the development and repositioning of multifamily, hospitality, and retail projects throughout California and Arizona. My interest in real estate development began early and has evolved into a career centered on creating high-quality, experience-driven projects.
Prior to my current roles, I was a Program Manager of Development for the Port of San Diego, where I led the negotiation and structuring of long-term ground leases for complex waterfront developments, including hotels, marinas, and specialty uses along San Diego Bay. My work included key leadership roles on landmark projects such as the Gaylord Pacific Hotel and Convention Center, the largest hotel development in California, and the San Diego Symphony’s Rady Shell, an iconic outdoor performance venue. In this role, I managed projects from initial concept through CEQA and Coastal Commission entitlements, navigating complex regulatory frameworks and aligning diverse public and private stakeholders.
As a principal investor and developer, I have led the acquisition, entitlement, development, and repositioning of residential assets totaling over 100 units across single-family, townhome, and multifamily product types. My broader private-sector experience includes roles at Douglas Wilson Companies, where I underwrote office, industrial, retail, and multifamily investments, and at Lucescu Realty, where I directed market analysis for institutional retail investment sales.
My experience across both public and private sectors provides a comprehensive perspective on real estate development, from sourcing and underwriting through entitlements, capital structuring, and execution. I bring a disciplined approach to negotiations, financial analysis, and value creation, supported by a continued commitment to professional growth and industry engagement. I currently serve as an Adjunct Professor of Real Estate at the University of San Diego and remain actively involved with the USD Real Estate Alumni Association.
I hold a California Real Estate Broker License, a Master’s degree in Real Estate from the University of San Diego, and a Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate from Arizona State University.
