As Principal and Managing Member of SPJ Ventures, LLC, I focus on the acquisition, development, and repositioning of multifamily, hospitality, and retail properties in California and Arizona. My work spans public-private development, private investment, and real estate advisory, with an emphasis on projects that combine sound economics with lasting value for the places they serve.

Previously, I served as Redevelopment Program Manager for the Port of San Diego, negotiating development agreements and long-term ground leases for projects on public land surrounding San Diego Bay. My work included The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park and the $1.3 billion Gaylord Pacific Resort & Convention Center. These projects required evaluating development proposals and financial feasibility, navigating CEQA and coastal-entitlement matters, and working with public officials, legal counsel, consultants, and private development teams to align public objectives with executable transactions.

As a principal investor and developer, I have led the acquisition, entitlement, development, and repositioning of residential properties totaling more than 100 units across single-family, townhome, and multifamily projects. I have also worked across hospitality and retail, managing projects through underwriting, financing, construction, and asset management. Earlier in my career, I underwrote office, industrial, retail, and multifamily investments at Douglas Wilson Companies and led market analysis for institutional retail investment sales at Lucescu Realty.

Alongside my development and investment work, I have served as an Adjunct Professor of Real Estate at the University of San Diego, where I taught the NAIOP University Challenge course. I remain involved with the USD Real Estate Alumni Association and value opportunities to help emerging professionals connect real estate concepts with practical applications.

I hold a California real estate broker license, an M.S. in Real Estate from the University of San Diego, and a B.S. in Real Estate from Arizona State University. I am a San Diego native, husband, and father of three.
